What does a Data Analyst actually do?
A Data Analyst converts messy business data into decisions. Day-to-day means: write SQL to pull data, build dashboards to surface trends, run hypothesis tests to validate hunches, and present findings to stakeholders who do not know SQL. In Indian product companies, you also automate the recurring 70% of this work using Claude/ChatGPT prompts and tools like n8n. Entry-level analysts in 2026 are expected to leverage AI from day one — that is the differentiator from the 2022 analyst job.
