Claude Code
Anthropic's agentic coding tool — Claude with file-edit, command-run, and project-context tools, running in your terminal or IDE.
What is Claude Code?
Claude Code is Anthropic's reference implementation of an agentic coding assistant. It runs in your terminal or VS Code, reads your codebase, edits files, runs commands, and iterates — all under your approval per action or in autonomous loops.
The capability is qualitatively beyond autocomplete-style copilots. Where GitHub Copilot suggests the next line, Claude Code can be told "find the bug in the auth flow, fix it, run the tests, commit" and do all of that without further input — using tool use, agent memory, and a long context window.
Indian product teams adopting Claude Code (or its peers — Cursor agents, Windsurf, Aider) report 2–4x velocity on routine work. The skill ceiling is in knowing what to delegate, how to break tasks down, and how to review agent output efficiently.
Claude Code (and similar agentic IDEs) is reshaping how Indian engineers ship code. Knowing how to drive them effectively is a 2026 baseline.
A Bengaluru SaaS company's senior engineer uses Claude Code to handle the 30% of work that is boring — schema migrations, test scaffolding, API client generation. The engineer reviews diffs, runs the tests, ships. Their throughput roughly doubled in the first quarter of adoption.
