What does a BIM Engineer / Coordinator actually do?
A BIM Engineer builds intelligent 3D building models. A BIM Coordinator runs clash detection across architecture + structure + MEP disciplines, manages the federated model, and resolves conflicts before construction starts. Day-to-day in Indian consultancies and international firms: build / federate models, run Navisworks clash detection, manage BIM 360 issues + RFIs, generate IFC-compliant deliverables. Senior BIM coordinators also lead ISO 19650 governance workflows.
This 9-month roadmap is unusual in our lineup — it is shorter than the AI roadmaps because BIM software has a steeper learning curve early on but a quicker plateau. Where AI engineers keep learning new frameworks for years, BIM coordinators stabilise into deep expertise on Revit + Navisworks + BIM 360 within a year. The differentiator at the senior level is coordination skill (managing disciplines), not new tool fluency.

The biggest failure mode is studying software without coordination experience — most self-taught BIM modellers never run a clash-detection exercise on a real MEP model, which is exactly what UAE hiring panels probe.
